Infill Builders
What is Infill Housing?
Our neighbourhoods constantly evolve. From ancient times, people have been tearing down old buildings to make way for newer ones. What drives this behaviour are peoples’ changing needs. “Infill Housing” is one example of the process at work. The term refers to any project that builds new housing in an already established neighbourhood such as:
- demolishing one single-detached home and building a new one on the same lot
- replacing one or more single-detached homes with a semi or row of town homes
- constructing a new building on a vacant lot within an existing neighbourhood
- major additions and renovations to existing homes
Good Neighbour Values
At Grand Homes we appreciate that an Infill project has many neighbours who are interested in what is going on. We understand that this is their neighbourhood! Unfortunately, some builders are insensitive to the legitimate interests and concerns of neighbours.
These are the basic values that Grand Homes and our home owners should respect:
- INFORM YOUR NEIGHBOURS! Before work starts, share your plans with your neighbours by writing a letter or visiting them personally. It is our experience that informed neighbours are usually more supportive and understanding of the project and the inevitable inconvenience it presents. Grand Homes will introduce themselves and/or leave a card for your neighbours to contact us in case they have concerns or if there is an emergency. Always display the building permit.
- CALL BEFORE WE DIG!
- PROTECT OUR KIDS! Effective fencing will be erected to confine building activity and to defend against children’s curiosity.
- PROTECT OUR TREES!
- KEEP OUR SITE CLEAN! Maintain a clean and safe work site. Respect the neighbours.
- KEEP THE NOISE DOWN! Always respect the Towns noise by-law.
- COMPLETE THE WORK IN A TIMELY MANNER! Grand Homes will plan and schedule the project carefully.
